SHORT INFORMATION ABOUT METALLURGICAL BRANCH
Metallurgy in the region is a powerful industry complex, which includes metallurgical, tube, hardware, fireproof material and nonmetallic mineral enterprises, a number of repair and service firms, and several scientific organizations. The metallurgical complex of Donetsk region is a most important basic branch of economy of Donetsk region and Ukraine. Almost one fifth of the industry assets of the region is concentrated within the metallurgical industry. About 150 thousand people work at the metallurgical plants, which makes up a quarter of all industrial workers in the region. The industrial products sales ratio of the metallurgical and metal-work plants in the region is almost 50%.
About 80% of the positive financial results in the economy of the region fall on the metallurgical complex. Ferrous metal makes up 64% of the region’s export. The main products of the metallurgical industry in Donetsk region are steel-making and foundry cast-iron, ferromanganese, steel, rolled wire, channel bars, beams, rails, steel and cast-iron tubes, special profiles for
machine-building, steel ropes, wires, hardware goods, coke and coking products. The enterprises of the metallurgical industry of Donetsk region produce about 50% of all metal production, 54% of all coke and 75% of all fireproof material produced in Ukraine. This year, the enterprises of the metallurgical industry of the region have produced 45% of all cast-iron and 46% of all steel smelted in Ukraine, as well as 45% of all finished ferrous steel
and 26% of all metal tubes.

The region takes the second place in export (around 20% of the total state export volume) and the second place (after Kyiv) in import (around 7% of the total Ukrainian volume). The metal products produced in the region are exported to more than 50 countries worldwide.
Raw materials and materials take the main place in export – 90%; machines and equipment – 7%. Ferrous metallurgy products account for the basic part in raw material structure (72% of the total export volume). Raw materials and materials prevail in import structure also – 67%. Its basic part accounts for fuel and minerals. Machines and equipment make 24%.
Import operations are performed with 69 countries worldwide. The closest trade links are with the firms from Russia, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden, USA, Poland. Aiming at increasing of the competitiveness of metal products and at keeping the leading positions in the global market, the metallurgical complex is

Present your technology and know-how at METALLURGY UKRAINE 2011
The leading trade fair for one of Ukraine’s most important and dynamic industrial sectors.
Today, the metal industry is already one of the most important sectors of the Ukrainian economy and signs are pointing towards further growth and modernization. Foreign know-how and capital are now more welcome than ever before. 51% of the Ukrainian metallurgy production is located at the Donetsk region.
The greatest sales potential of the Ukrainian metal industry continues to lie in the production of commodities and semi-finished goods. Most of the plants currently being operated in the metal industry, however, are not yet technologically up-to-date. The government and companies are working together hand in hand to rebuild this economic sector.
Within this context, their greatest effort is a large-scale reorientation of production methods, know-how, and last, but not least, capital with great opportunities.
METALLURGY UKRAINE 2011 is the ideal podium for gaining promising contacts in an expanding market of the future.
